Gold Coast Suburb
Toes in the sand, the skyline behind you, the waves doing half the ceremony's atmospheric work. Surfers Paradise is one of the most photogenic spots on the Gold Coast to get married, and I love celebrating weddings here.

There's a particular magic to a Surfers Paradise wedding. The same beach you holidayed at as a kid is suddenly the place you're getting married. The skyline does the photographer's job. The light on the water glitters cinematically. I've celebrated weddings on this stretch of sand for years and it still gets me.
The practical side is mostly timing and permits. Popular spots (Cavill Avenue, in front of the Soul Boardwalk, the quieter stretch towards Main Beach) all need a beach wedding permit from Gold Coast City Council, straightforward but worth applying 6 to 8 weeks ahead. Sunrise ceremonies are quiet and beautifully lit; sunset ceremonies have the skyline coming alive but more foot traffic.
Whether it's a barefoot sunrise ceremony for two or a full afternoon production for fifty, I write Surfers Paradise weddings to match the place: relaxed, sun-drenched, with enough structure to feel like a real ceremony rather than a photo op. For the broader Gold Coast picture, see my Gold Coast page. If you'd rather a just-the-two-of-you version, the elopement page goes deeper.
Send me your date and where in Surfers you're picturing. I'll let you know if I'm free and what permit you need.
Yes. All Gold Coast beach ceremonies require a permit from Gold Coast City Council. The application is straightforward and the fees are modest. Apply at least 6 to 8 weeks before your date, especially if you're aiming for peak season (October through March). My guide to beach wedding permits in Queensland covers the details.
Sunrise gives you near-empty beaches, soft golden light, and almost no foot traffic. Beautiful, but obviously requires guests willing to be up at 5am. Sunset is more popular, the light comes from behind the skyline rather than over the ocean, and you'll share the beach with more people. Both work; it depends on which version of the day fits your guest list.
Have a wet weather plan. We'll talk this through during planning. Sometimes that's a covered nearby venue, sometimes a hotel function space, sometimes just a few hours' delay (Gold Coast storms tend to pass quickly). I always have a wet weather conversation with every couple, so we're not making decisions in a panic on the morning of.
From me, no. My packages are all-in (paperwork, certificate, travel within Gold Coast and Tweed). The two outside costs you'll need to budget for are the council permit fee and any beach setup hire (chairs, arch, signage) if you want one.
Send me your date and I'll come back with availability and the next-step plan.
