Hope Island · Sanctuary Cove · Gold Coast
Hope Island is the northern Gold Coast's waterfront-resort zone. Canals, marinas, two championship golf courses, and ceremony settings that lean polished and sunset-lit.

Hope Island sits at the northern end of the Gold Coast, twenty minutes from Surfers and a comfortable hour from Brisbane. The whole area is built around water — the canal estates, the marina at Sanctuary Cove, and the two championship golf courses that wrap the residential streets. Most weddings up here happen at one of the two big resort venues, or on a private waterfront property within walking distance.
Hope Island doesn't have a public beach, and that's a feature not a bug for couples who want their wedding to feel resort-private rather than beach-public. The trade-off is that ceremonies here are venue-based, not foreshore-based — meaning no council permit hassle, no random walkers in the background, and Plan B is always indoors.
"Hope Island weddings feel like a destination wedding without the long-haul flight. Guests fly into Coolangatta or Brisbane, drive twenty minutes, and check into the resort for the weekend."
InterContinental Sanctuary Cove is the flagship resort venue with marina views, manicured lawns and full reception packages. Hope Harbour handles smaller marina-side ceremonies. Links Hope Island Golf Club runs golf-course weddings on the lawn between the clubhouse and the water.
For the broader picture, see my Gold Coast celebrant page. Down the coast: Southport on the Broadwater, ten minutes south.

Not a public surf beach, no. The waterfront is canals, marinas and the Coomera River system. For couples wanting a beach photo after the ceremony, the closest options are The Spit (twenty minutes south) or South Stradbroke Island via boat from Sanctuary Cove marina.
Generally no. Hope Island ceremonies are almost all on private venue land (resorts, golf clubs, marina), which means the venue covers the permits. The exception is anything on the public foreshore or canal-edge park, which would need a City of Gold Coast permit.
Travel is included with Classic and Custom packages. Legals Only and Micro Wedding incur a small per-kilometre travel fee from my Tweed Coast base — Hope Island is the northern edge of my immediate area, so the fee is small but real. Quoted upfront.
Yes — that's the standard play. Most Hope Island weddings have the bulk of guests staying onsite at either the InterContinental or one of the canal-estate Airbnbs within the gated community. Makes the weekend feel like a proper destination wedding.
Tell me which resort or venue and your date. I'll come back with availability, ceremony timing for the marina light, and what the indoor backup looks like.
